June is Rose Month! Charles de Mills

 This is the last rose in the series for this year. It is also my favorite rose. This is the rose that got me into growing old garden roses. If I can only choose one rose to have Charles de Mills would be it. It seems to have stayed on the more pink side of purple this year, but it seems that most of my purples stayed pinker than normal. June is Rose Month! Marianne

 A Paul Barden gallica. Bred by using Duchesse de Montebello and Abraham Darby. It in a way leans/cascades down the hillside where it is growing. For me it does have some issues with rain and humidity combined with heat. It is very vigorous. Well worth growing. You can see a short video of it here:

June is Rose Month! Solid Pink rose

 This was supposed to be Variegata di Bologna, a bourbon rose. Unfortunately, sometimes Variegata di Bologna becomes a solid pink, which is what I believe happened here. You can see a short video of it here:

June is Rose Month! Lemon Zen

 A hybrid Moschata rose. Bred by crossing the Musk rose with Graham Thomas. Blooms in clusters. It would probably be better grown on something horizontally, but can be grown as a shrub. You can see a short video about it here:

 Quite a bit more similar to Pat Austin in color than I was expecting. This is the first summer in my yard so I shall see how it goes. It seems to rebloom pretty quickly, seeing how it has put out 2 flushes in the time that most of my roses have put out one flush.  A light pink David Austin rose. It blooms in cycles throughout the summer. It sets hips. The bush in my yard is about 3 feet tall and has stayed that way for a year now. You can see a short video of Heritage here:

June is Rose Month! Oscar Peterson

 A rose that I think should be grown more. It has very dark green leaves. It is about 4 feet tall. The blooms start out yellow-ish, but quickly go to white. They form hips. This is a plant and forget about it rose for me.  You can see a short video about it here:

 A pink climbing rose by Paul Barden. This is my first full growing season but I obtained it as a fairly small plant in September and it survived the zone 5b/6a winter that we had in January and February.  An apricot rose by David Austin. It is an interesting rose in my yard, as it seems to have varying color stages. Sometimes it is so light that it is almost white, other times it is very apricot, and others it is leaning very strongly towards pink. Stay tuned for my spotlight on this rose in the future! June is Rose Month! Golden Buddha

 A Paul Barden bred rose. It is classified as a hybrid bractea rose, making it a distant relative to Mermaid and Happenstance, amongst others. A well behaved rose so far, this being the first summer for me. Helpmefind.com lists it as a 2-3' foot rose, so I will see if it gets there (assuming the rabbits leave it alone). June is Rose Month! Desiree Parmentier

A Gallica rose. Now that I have seen this rose bloom in my own yard, I recognize it as a rose that, if not the same-very similar to, roses that I have seen in cemeteries in western Oregon. It spreads by suckers, but it being young I can't say how vigorously. You can see a short video of it here:

June is Rose Month! Frau Karl Druschki

 A turn of the 1900s era Hybrid Perpetual, a predecessor of the Hybrid Tea roses. Frau Karl Druschki grows long canes, putting the blooms near face level, reducing the amount of stooping to be able to see the bloom. June is Rose Month! Tuscany Superb

 An Old Garden Rose from circa 1837. I call the color a dark purple, however it can open fairly lighter and could lead to confusion on its identity.  A nice pink rose. Until I saw a photo of Abraham Darby and Moonlight in Paris side by side,  I never put how similar they can be together. A rose that can go by simply Abe. A 1985 David Austin rose. Also a parent of several other roses including William Morris and Marianne. The color can have various shades of pink, apricot and a little yellow in the flowers. You can see a short video here:

June is Rose Month! Duchesse de Brabant

June is Rose Month! Little Mischief

 Little Mischief was bred in 1997 and introduced in 2005. In the two years that it has been in the ground it has been similar to the growth habit of 'The Fairy'. I find that the dark pink flowers, from a distance, seem to glow and stand out, especially against a green background. You can see more pictures and info here:
