Thoughts on my attempts of rose hybridizing
For me the time to cross pollinate cross has passed. In this I am going to state what roses I crossed with what and what I think might come out of them, I will also note/update if the crosses took or not as well. Starting from the first crosses this year:

Safrano X Father Hugo's Rose (Seed X Pollen)
I am not really sure what to expect if this cross takes. If I were to guess what the seedling would be it would look like something once blooming, because once blooming trait is dominant, yellow, probably smaller leaves than Safrano, possibly more like Father Hugo's. I am guessing that the results would be probably fairly large bushes. I am hoping for something more winter hardy than Safrano. If I were to continue using this, for example crossing back Safrano, or another Tea rose, I think that I would then wind up with some repeat seedlings in the second generation, but time would tell.
As of 6/12 the plant wound up aborting this. It was only one bloom and the hip started to form. I may try this again next year.

Safrano X Blue For You
While I think that this cross would result in something more cane hardy than Safrano, I am not really sure. Blue For You's canes did survive, the winter, but there was some damage, while Safrano lost all of it's canes. I think that it would be neat to get a rose with Blue For You's flower color and Safrano's new growth color. I think that since the parent roses are both repeat blooming it is likely that the seedlings would be repeat bloomers. I don't know if this would result in fertile offspring because of the ploidy count, (Safrano being a diploid and Blue For You being a Triploid) but it would be interesting to see.

Marianne X Tottering-Gently-By
I did this cross with the hope that it may produce repeat offspring, since Marianne's pollen parent is Abraham Darby, a repeat bloomer. I think that there is a chance of getting yellow blooms out of this, but I was really just going for repeat bloom. I once read, and the source and people have been lost to my recall ability, that a breeder was asked why they used the roses that they did. The response was along the lines of that was what roses they had to work with. That is a good description of why I used Tottering-By-Gently as a pollen parent. I didn't have much else at the time to use. I did use the other repeat bloomer that I had on Marianne, so we shall see. If there had been anything else to use on Marianne at the time I would have used it. (If you haven't guessed, I am not a fan of T-G-B, but that is not for this post.)
As of 5/30 only two of the remaining blooms that I used T-G-B on are seeming to form hips.
As of 6/5 only only bloom is left and it looks like it is setting a hip.
As of 6/13 the plant aborted this. I am unlikely to try this cross next year.
Marianne X Blue For You
I did this cross with the hope of repeat offspring. Also I like the color of Blue For You and the flower form of Marianne. Plus I hope that it will be more hardy than Blue For You.
As of 5/25 many of the blooms that I put Blue For You on have died, and there are a couple left, so we shall see if this is even a viable cross.
As of 5/30, only three blooms that I used Blue For You on are seeming to form hips.

Marianne X Safrano
More cold hardiness and repeat bloom.
As of 5/30 this cross failed. I didn't use very many blooms, so I don't know if this is an actual failure, or that it was more of a user error. Will try again next year, hopefully.

Charles de Mills X Screaming Neon Red
For the first generation I would expect probably something more closer to Charles de Mills than Screaming Neon Red. But the point for this cross is to put the repeat gene into Charles de Mills lineage. Yes I know it has been done before, but there are only a few out there. With this I could then cross with something else and hope for repeat bloom, hopefully cold hardy.

Charles de Mills X Lady of Shalott
The color and that form would be awesome.
As of 6/2 it looks like this cross didn't take. There was only one bloom that pollen was put on so I am going to try again next year.

Charles de Mills X Abraham Darby
Because why not? My favorite rose and my 2nd favorite English rose together. And to potentially introduce repeat for future crosses.

To see if there is any repeat bloom that comes from this cross, since Abraham Darby is where the repeat genes would be coming from.

Rose society rose display
According to the rose society it isn't a rose show due to the fact that there was no judging. They called it a rose display. Here was what was on the tables from rose society member's gardens. You can see the video here:
