Mostly from work. Plus Abraham Darby from my garden. I don't know what the names of the roses are.
About roses that I have grown in Georgia, Oregon, and Missouri. Also about those that I have seen in public gardens, cemeteries, botanical gardens. The blog also contains videos, and links to posts on facebook, and a link to the merchandise store. Another look at Heritage
In June I made a post about Heritage. It is still in the first year in my yard and I am still evaluating it. Usually I find that the first blooms of the year are better than later blooms. For my Heritage bush I don't think that is the case. The one today had a light scent and to me it looked a little fuller than the first flush. I think that this rose is starting to grow on me

Unknown moss rose
Moss roses are part of the Old Garden Roses general umbrella. They fall into the European side of the Old Garden Roses versus the China side. The original moss roses were a mutation from the centifolia and damask roses that caused a mossy growth on the buds and pedicels. Often the moss has a distinct scent to it.
I am not sure where I came across this moss, I don't know the name. The more I come across this picture the more I grow to like the look. If more mosses were like this, I might be more tempted to seek them out.

Don't judge a book...or rose... By its cover...or early blooms
Just like a cover to a book doesn't always say how good or bad it is going to be, the first bloom of a young rose isn't always going to be the same as when the plant gets older. This William Morris is a young plant, and I am not expecting the future blooms to look the same. (Though it would be cool)
